Ukraine has announced the commencement of mass production for an innovative locally engineered interceptor drone to enhance its aerial protection systems. The first three producers have begun production, with 11 more preparing to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Combat Conditions

These UAVs utilize a nationally created system known as “Octopus” designed to neutralize Iranian-made drones. The system underwent testing in actual battle and proved effective “at night, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” the ministry stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing as many as 1,000 interceptors daily.

Latest Assault on the Capital Described as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and brutal” following six individuals were killed and dozens injured in a wave of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in the capital shortly after midnight this past Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president reported the country was targeted by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. Those killed had been inside their residences in an apartment building on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Dozens of other buildings were damaged, including the Azerbaijani embassy.

International Objection Following Diplomatic Compound Damage

Azerbaijan announced it issued a formal objection to the Russian ambassador on Friday after the destruction at its diplomatic compound. The blast from a Moscow's missile demolished a section of the compound's boundary wall and resulted in serious damage to the embassy grounds, officials from Baku stated. There were no personnel injured, and a ministry spokesperson said the diplomatic mission in Ukraine was continuing to operate.

Moscow's Glide Bomb Production Experiences Significant Increase

Russia plans to produce up to 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, among them 500 of an innovative, extended-range model that is capable of targeting more towns and cities. Moscow's military have been launching 200 to 250 glide bombs per day, with last month’s daily average being approximately 170, according to official military statistics.

Ukrainian Attacks Focus on Moscow's Energy Infrastructure

Russia’s maritime terminal of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended oil exports this past Friday – representing two percent of global supply – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv stated its military had fired Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to reduce the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukraine additionally struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in nearby Engels overnight.

International Restrictions Affect Moscow's Oil Producer

The number two energy company Lukoil said on Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its foreign assets following recent restrictions from the UK and the US and the collapse of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements will be announced once conclusive negotiations have been reached and required authorizations are secured,” the company stated.

Ukrainian President Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spain

Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the city of Madrid, Madrid, on Tuesday to confer with lawmakers following his trip to France, the chamber of deputies disclosed. Zelenskyy would meet deputies from all houses of parliament throughout his stay, an official announcement said.
