The Red Devils Poised to Sign Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific German forward Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Signing for United
The forward, with six months remaining on her contract, has been a consistent goalscorer for her club and the national team. She has netted over 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing will be seen as a marquee signing for the Women’s Super League team.
Departure from Munich was expected since she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the club's fans following a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its top forwards. Per reports, all the paperwork for the transfer are now finalised.
Consistent Goal Threat to Boost United's Attack
The 28-year-old’s arrival should represent a significant boost to United’s forward line. She has been highly consistent in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven straight seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Securing Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when the club appear to be building positive momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since joining in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s extension, a club official commented: “She has become a critical part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and skill allows her and the team to control and dictate play from the middle of the park.”
Lundkvist, who has arrived from a side from the American league, said: “You can sense how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
