The Grisly Animated Movie Ending That Lingers Audiences

Out of all the mature cartoon movies I’ve ever viewed, nothing has lingered in my mind as much as the fear-filled conclusion of a graphically gory as well as overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 The Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, this Spain-based filmmaker crafted a grim, melancholy and often savage world with several minor , desolate hints of hope.

Although Unicorn Wars feels like it came from a desire to push the medium even more, the filmmaker clarified that it was rather an attempt to express a universal, cross-cultural message about “the common origin of every conflict.”

That message is communicated through a band of brightly hued teddy bears , obviously modeled after a popular series of cuddly characters.

Maturing in a community built around warmongering as well as the war machine, numerous these creatures are consumed by slaughtering unicorns, because of a holy book which states the bears they were once kings of the woods, until the horned beings forced them out.

A few have not completely bought into the propaganda, and choose to try out narcotics or mate in the forest.

Unlike their cuddly counterparts, these colorful critters display sexual organs and clear sex drives.

For a certain particularly cruel, pessimistic creature, the bear named Bluey, the battle against the unicorns transforms into a road to power — and specifically to authority above his softer, more compassionate sibling the character Tubby.

The character behaves aggressively and an obvious antisocial figure , and as horror takes over his squad and kills his fellow soldiers one by one, he takes increasingly influence personally, in increasingly violent, destructive ways.

Meanwhile, these mythical beings are suffering their own horror, through a spreading, destructive monster in their woods.

“In the early stages, it appears as a humorous movie,” the filmmaker said. “However it turns into a more dramatic and melancholic film. And by the end, it transforms into a terrifying movie.”

Unicorn Wars starts out feeling a bit like one of the more whimsical features by a renowned animator, that uncover a wicked pleasure in letting animated figures curse, engage in violence, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it evolves into something more like a more grim film by that same artist, including ever more explicit brutality , a noticeable connection to the real suffering of war.

By the end, it is an outright extreme drama carnage.

The terror that turns this a Halloween-friendly watch begins much sooner than indicated.

The Unicorn Wars is suited for the most dedicated lovers of violence, for enthusiasts of extreme cinema who want to view a film they haven’t ever seen on-screen before, and can endure a narrative which delivers unflinching brutality.

See it in a dimly lit space with no disturbances, and the conclusion will dig under your skin and linger.
