The Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup Against Los Angeles Dodgers

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden World Series since the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final Game 7 of the ALCS.
Down 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the upcoming Fall Classic.
"It's incredible for our team, Toronto, the nation," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "It's truly an amazing experience."
The veteran has now hit twenty-three playoff homers, making him third on the list behind Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"I can't think of another player in the world that I'd prefer in that situation except for him with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a World Series.
Manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it's painful" after his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their efforts this season.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we ended up on the wrong side of this one," he added.
The Blue Jays won the title on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
