Shoah Survivors Demand Nigel Farage to Make Amends Over Reported Anti-Jewish Comments.

A group of Shoah survivors has called for that Nigel Farage tell the truth and express remorse for reported antisemitic comments he reportedly directed toward Jewish pupils during his school days.

The Reform UK leader has previously stated he never insulted anyone with deliberate cruelty, suggesting it may have been mere "playground banter".

"Being Shoah survivors, we comprehend the profound danger of bigoted language – for we have witnessed where such words inevitably end," wrote the survivors in a missive.

"It is crucial to understand: lauding Hitler, jeering at gas chambers, or shouting racist insults is not teasing. Not on a schoolyard. Not ever."

A Direct Question

The letter puts forth straightforward questions to the public figure: "Is it true you said ‘Hitler was right’ and ‘gas them,’ and mimicked gas chambers? Did you target your classmates to anti-Jewish taunts?"

The Signatories

The group of 11 survivors features individuals with harrowing personal experiences from the Nazi genocide.

• Hedi Argent, who lost 27 members of her immediate and extended family.
• Simon Winston, who was confined to a ghetto before breaking out in 1942 and spending the rest of the war concealed.
• Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, who was sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau and later incarcerated at Bergen-Belsen, where she was liberated.

Other signatories include Janine Webber, Edith Jayne, Helen Aronson, Ruth Barnett, John Fieldsend, Susan Pollack, Hanneke Dye and Agnes Kaposi.

Mounting Testimony

This public letter comes after the dismissal of corroborating allegations by more than two dozen ex-schoolmates and teachers as "fabricated nonsense" by a deputy leader.

Since the initial report, further individuals from that era have come forward. 28 ex-students and educators now assert they observed prejudiced actions by him.

One prominent testimony comes from Peter Ettedgui, a Jewish-born Bafta and Emmy-winning director, who has stated that a teenage Farage would sidle up to him and say the phrases "Hitler had the correct idea" and "gas them", sometimes making a hiss to simulate the sound of the gas chambers.

Further Allegations

Additional alumni from diverse backgrounds have also spoken publicly with accounts of direct abuse.

• Cyrus Oshidar stated he was branded a "Paki" and has rejected the notion that such actions were not meant to hurt.
• Another individual with Asian roots described him as an "open racist" who would use the phrase "Enoch Powell had a point" as a form of "racial bullying".

The Survivors' Final Appeal

The final appeal asks a concluding dilemma to Farage: "By denying saying those words, is your position that dozens of individuals are fabricating their stories? If you did say them, now is the time to admit your error and make amends."

"Those who hope to lead our country should under no circumstances divide people by ethnicity or faith. Hatred of Jews must never be normalised. This moment is about personal accountability. The choice is yours, Mr Farage."
