Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
