Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
American actor Pat Finn, who featured in popular TV shows such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles this Monday after undergoing cancer treatment from 2022 onward, per media reports.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family shared in a statement.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
An Extensive Career on Screen
His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the titular character's brother.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous popular shows, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His work in movies encompass "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Away from his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.
"He guided, supported, and advised many learners over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
Paying homage, peer Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.
The actor is leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
