Armed assailants have killed a teacher and abducted at least 25 students in an raid targeting a educational institution for young women in Nigeria's northwestern region, police reports indicate.
The gang of attackers breached the public educational institution for female students in Maga, Kebbi State at approximately 04:00 local time on the beginning of the work week, authorities reported.
The armed individuals "engaged police personnel on duty in a shootout" before breaching the school's outer barrier and abducting the learners from their hostel, authorities disclosed.
An educational worker was fatally shot while defending the students. A second sustained gunshot wounds and is now undergoing medical care.
