Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the club's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase such as this with outcomes like these.”

He stated, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
